Cyprus is not the first market to consider whether to block its welfare recipients from using their benefits to gamble, Brazil introduced a similar ban in 2025.

Wazdan has boosted its presence in the Eastern European market, with the company signing a new content alliance with SlyBet, a prominent provider of iGaming experiences for the local market. 

The online casino has benefited from the supplier’s advanced and player-favorite titles since August 10, 2026, but the partnership was only announced recently. The implementation of Wazdan content was made possible through EGT Digital.

Notably, the supplier has teamed up with WINBET and ELITBET in the past, two other prominent local operators, with SlyBet only adding to the company’s local footprint and momentum.

Under the terms of the agreement, Merkur will acquire 95% of Casigrangi, while DOFA will retain a 5% interest, subject to reciprocal put and call options exercisable in the future.

Casigrangi currently holds approximately 4,135,434 shares in SFC, amounting to 81.2% of its capital and voting rights based on figures from 31 October 2025.
